Podcast No. 10 - Indivision - The Sounds Of Spring
Some time after exchanging their own songs between each other Andrus Kurvits aka Q-Brick and Markus Marjak aka Zero Frequency, two young producers from Estonia, decide to make something together. After creating a first song, they realize that they created something that they could of never managed to make on they own.
So Indivision was born. Bringing they're individual influences and experiences together they create mind blowing musical elements. Combination of rolling drums with incredible ambiance accomplished with orchestral sounds all glued together with a deep and warm basslines. A minimalistic vibe to keep a listener cool and chilled or a hot and heavy dancefloor killer, they got it all.
In such short time they already have releases on Climate Recordings and Liquicity and have gained support from heavyhitters such as B-Complex, Lynx & Netsky.
Furthermore, Mikk aka MJCM joined the team in 2010.
2010 will be the year of Indivision.
1. Please introduce yourself.
Indivision consists of 3 young lads: Markus(18), Andrus(20) and Mikk(18). We're all from Estonia, although we don't live in the same cities
Basically we started out in October 2009 and the founders of Indivision are Markus and Andrus. Shortly after Mikk joined the group.
Markus and Andrus had 2 years of producing experience before they founded Indivision. Formerly they produced under the names of Zero Frequency and Q-brick, which both were solo projects.
The idea of making a group came after we had finished our first collab (Femme Fatale). Everything went so smoothly - that was the reason that we started this group.
2. Tell us the story of the name you chose, why Indivision?
Well, we tried to figure out the name for ourselves, it just sounded right and it wasn't taken either. The name just kind of popped into Andrus' mind.
3. You are 3 producers forming Indivision, how you get along on production tracks?
Actually Markus and Andrus are producing tracks, Mikk is more of a DJ. The reason why, like we said before, we started out this group, because the process of making tunes is always going really smoothly. We are a great team together!
4. What software do you use mostly?
As a sequencer we use FL Studio, we really love it! Though we use rarely the standard plug-ins of Fruity.
Our favorite vst instruments are NI Massive, Rob Pappen's Albino,Synplant and East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra.
Then definitely we use a lot Waves plug-ins, Sony Oxford's(SONNOX) stuff and Kjaerhus vst-s.
5. Until now you have released liquid / jump up / deep & minimalistic tracks. How do you think them out ? It's all about the mood you are into or ?
Yeah, it definitely depends in which state of mind we are. Usually movies or life itself inspire us. Though sometimes we just play around with sounds.
We definitely want to keep our production varied, that's why we're making so many subgenres. However basically every tune has a liquid funk influence.
6. Tell us a few words about your forthcoming tracks.
The next release is on April 7 on Totaal Rez rec, a single. The a-side is I can't get no sleep and the flip is Disturbia .
Also, we are going to release a free EP alongside with the single.
Furthermore, there will be 2 vinyl releases this year: Out of this will be released on Have-A-Break and No Flow & Momentum Movement on Ruff DNB.
7. Forthcoming collaborations ?
There will be many collaborations with Stunna. Actually we hope to release an EP together.
Also, we're doing a collaboration with Bionic1 at the moment.
We like to use real singers, so definitely there will be featured vocalists.
8. Will you release tracks on vynil too, or will you remain on digital ?
We have 2 vinyl releases coming up this year and we'll try to get more vinyl releases in the future, it's really cool if you can actually hold your tune(s) in your hands. A great feeling!
9. There are 2 free tracks from you, will it be more in the future ?
Definitely! We'll give away a lot of tunes for free in the future. For instance we're going to release a free EP in April.
10. We saw a picture from Family Guy on your myspace profile, who is the fan ?
We're all big fans of Family Guy haha.
11. In the end, any last words ?
Yeah, we would like to thank our fans for the support what we have recieved and all the others who have bought our tunes.
Thanks to these people we are really motivated which leads us to make even better and better tunes.
